âš¡ POA Upgrades
UGRADING YOUR POINT OF ATTACHMENT
The point of attachment (POA) is the connection point where the Ausgrid network overhead service lines connect to your property. As homes age and power demands increase, the existing POA may no longer have the capacity to handle the load of a modern household. This is particularly common when adding solar systems, battery storage, EV chargers, pools or air conditioning systems that significantly increase the amount of power flowing in and out of the property.
A POA upgrade involves replacing or relocating the connection point to meet current Ausgrid network standards and increase the capacity of power coming into your property. Jack is a fully accredited Level 2 ASP electrician with direct Ausgrid network access, meaning we can carry out this work legally and without involving a third party. We manage all aspects of the upgrade including the Ausgrid application process, any required network notifications and the physical installation work.

âš¡ POA Maintenance
KEEPING YOUR CONNECTION IN GOOD WORKING ORDER
Regular inspection and maintenance of your point of attachment helps avoid defect notices, unexpected disconnections and costly emergency rectification work. Over time the components that make up a POA including the service mast, weatherhead, attachment hardware and associated wiring can deteriorate due to age, weather exposure and general wear.
We carry out POA inspections and maintenance for homeowners, landlords, property managers and strata managers across Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, Hunter Valley and the Central Coast. If we identify any issues during a maintenance inspection we will provide a written quote for any rectification work before proceeding. Proactive maintenance is almost always more cost effective than emergency repairs.
âš¡ POA Defect Rectification
AUSGRID POA DEFECTS WE FIX THEM FAST
Ausgrid regularly inspects overhead service line connections across the network and issues defect notices to property owners when a point of attachment does not meet current standards. These notices typically give property owners a set timeframe to rectify the defect before Ausgrid disconnects the supply.
Receiving a defect notice can be stressful, particularly if you are not sure what it means or who to call. We deal with Ausgrid POA defects regularly and understand exactly what is required to bring a connection back into compliance quickly. We assess the defect, provide a written quote and carry out the rectification work as a Level 2 ASP accredited electrician with direct Ausgrid network access.
If you have received a defect notice from Ausgrid do not wait. Call Jack and we will assess your situation promptly and get the rectification underway before any disconnection occurs.

âš¡ Common Questions
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I have received a defect notice from Ausgrid. What do I do?
Call Jack as soon as possible. Ausgrid defect notices have a set timeframe for rectification and ignoring them can result in disconnection of your power supply. We deal with Ausgrid POA defects regularly and will assess your situation quickly and get the work underway.
How do I know if my POA needs upgrading?
Signs include visible deterioration of the overhead service line connection, non-compliant clearances from windows or roof structures, or if you are planning to add solar, an EV charger, a pool or another high load appliance. We can assess your POA as part of a free quote.
Can any electrician carry out POA work?
No. All POA upgrades, defect rectification and maintenance work involving the Ausgrid network connection is classified as Level 2 electrical work. It can only be legally carried out by a Level 2 ASP accredited electrician. Jack holds this accreditation and has extensive experience with all types of POA work across the Hunter region.
Will my power be disconnected during POA work?
Yes, there will be a period of disconnection during the physical work. We coordinate this with Ausgrid to minimise the downtime and will give you a clear heads up on timing before we begin so you can plan around it.
