WHAT IS TEST & TAGGING?
Test and tagging is the process of inspecting and electrically testing portable appliances and equipment to make sure they are safe to use. Each item is visually inspected for damage and then tested with specialist equipment to check insulation resistance, earth continuity and polarity. Items that pass are tagged with a dated compliance tag. Items that fail are tagged as unsafe and removed from service.
In Australia, test and tagging is a legal requirement for businesses and worksites under Work Health and Safety legislation. The frequency of testing varies depending on the environment the equipment is used in. High risk environments such as construction sites and workshops require more frequent testing than lower risk environments such as offices.

How often does equipment need to be tested and tagged?
It depends on the environment. Construction sites and workshops typically require testing every 3 months. Offices and low risk environments may only require testing every 12 months. We can advise on the correct frequency for your specific situation when we quote.
What types of equipment need to be tested?
Any portable electrical equipment that is connected to a power supply via a plug. This includes power tools, extension leads, computers, printers, kitchen appliances, office equipment and any other plugged-in devices used in a workplace or on a worksite.
Do you come to our premises?
Yes. We come to your business, worksite or property and test all equipment on site. You do not need to bring anything to us. We work around your schedule to minimise disruption. We can also do test tagging after hours.
Do you provide compliance documentation?
Yes. We provide full compliance documentation listing every item tested, the result and the next due date. This gives you a complete audit trail for WHS compliance purposes.
