How often should smoke alarms be tested?

Smoke alarms should be tested at least once a year. For rental properties in NSW, landlords are required to ensure alarms are tested within 30 days before a new tenancy begins and that batteries are replaced at the start of each tenancy.

Do you issue a compliance certificate after testing?

Yes. We issue a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) on completion of all smoke alarm installation and testing work. This gives landlords and property managers documented proof of compliance.

What type of smoke alarms do you install?

We install photoelectric smoke alarms which are recommended by NSW Fire and Rescue as the most effective type for detecting slow smouldering fires, which are the most common type in residential properties. We can advise on the best placement and type for your property.
